Treaty Signing
On April 30, 1803 the Louisiana Purchase Treaty was signed by Robert Livingston, James Monroe, and Barbe Marbois in Paris.
Thomas Jefferson told the people.
After the signing of the Louisiana Purchase treaty in 1803, Livingston made this famous statement, “We have lived long but this is the noblest work of our lives… The United States take rank today among the first power of the world.”
President Jefferson took control of the Louisiana Territory and established a temporary military government.
Plans were made for a mission to explore the land that known as the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
